MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION
The Association is interested in attracting new members.
Membership in the Association is defined in two classes:
1. Voting membership is open to
all veterans of the 31st Bomb Squadron or the 5th Bomb
Group who served in World War II.
2. Non-voting membership is open
to:
A. Any spouse, widow or
descendant of members named in (1)
above.
B. Any other person who has a keen interest in the Association and who actively pursues the purposes of the Organization. These persons may request membership from the Secretary either verbally or in writing.
The purposes of the Association include, but are not limited to:
A. Serving as a source of information about the 31st Bomb
Squadron and the Squadron's historical significance to the security of the
United States in times of war--particularly in WW II. This educational function
is to be pursued, among other means, through the publication of newsletters
several times a year, the availability of the Squadron Historian and
Association members to those seeking information about the Squadron, and the
speaking and other settings in which Squadron veterans share their knowledge
with students and other interested parties
B. Maintaining close relations
with the 5th Bombardment Group (H) and compiling and documenting a written
history of the 31st Squadron (H).
C. Promoting camaraderie among members and their families.
D. Preserving the friendship,
memories and incidents of our association as members of the 31st Squadron (H).
E. Encouraging attendance at and participation in reunions held by the Association.
Dues are $20.00
per year. The membership year runs from January 1 to December 31. A life membership is available for
$100.00.
Membership in the
Association entitles a member to
receive our newsletter, Tail Winds, three times per annum. Tail Winds is a
substantial newsletter that currently runs from 20-30 pages per issue. It
includes war stories and pictures, some in color, provided by our veteran
members. Membership also extends the right to attend and participate in our
reunions, presently being held every one or two years. We have recently met for
reunion in such places as Biloxi, MS, Las Vegas, NV, Midland, TX, San Diego, CA
and Oklahoma City, OK.
Any qualified person interested in becoming a
member of the Association should write or call our Secretary:
